The killing of George Floyd has sparked protests worldwide started new conversations about racism and police violence. Protestors have filled the streets not only in the US, but around the globe.
In the UK, a recent YouGov survey found that the majority of police officers (55%) felt that human rights laws were bad for the British judiciary, compared with 37% of officers who considered them good.
(The Human Rights Act 1998 requires all British public authorities, including the police, to act in a way which is compatible with the European Convention on Human Rights.)
