The EU-PESCO agreement and the Nato
23 European countries (members of the European Union) signed on November 23rd, 2017, the Permanent Structured Co-Operation agreement (PESCO). The historic commitment aims to promote common defense, continental integration, a joint strategy, and more efficient use of resources. One the one hand, Pesco strengthens the NATO by coordinating and making the employment of forces and capabilities more effectively. On the other hand, a stronger European defense will demand the EU take more responsibility concerning global challenges. Overall, a stronger and more independently coordinated European defense (and interests) might change the North-Atlantic balance. Learn more.
